This is my second submission for our monthly Dirty Girl Challenge, this month based on a wonderful inspiration photo. It’s a lovely room with some beautifully soft colors. Our required element was that this was a journal, restricted element– no markers or watercolor crayons. I needed a second journal for another of my high school students, so here is an SUO sample colored with reinkers and watercolor pencils in a slightly different palette.
I wanted to create something elegant with nice clean lines that mimicked the horizontal boards on the wall so I sewed these strips of DP on the main piece. It was hard to get a photo that didnÂ’t make it look like the strips were crookedÂ…they really arenÂ’t!
Journal also has a ribbon place marker with a butterfly charm.
Be sure to check out all the girlsÂ’ samples in the gallery by searching DCI408. Thanks so much for looking!

WOW! Christine, this is just incredibly pretty! I love the colors you chose for the flowers -- they just look so alive! The stitching is perfect -- what an awesome gift this will be. Your student will love it!
