Hi everyone! I’m known as Jerri Kay at SCS; family and friends call me Jerri. I’m very thrilled to be here in the “dirt pile.” I never thought I’d see my name there! Woo-Hoo! I feel like my star has just been placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I received Julie’s Confidential PM and didn’t open it until the following morning. I didn’t know it was there because my husband was hogging the computer the evening it came in. At 6:30 a.m. the following morning, I woke up and went to check my e-mails. I was drinking my morning cup of coffee when I saw Julie’s name and I thought, “Uh oh, Julie’s found the South Park card I uploaded and I’m in trouble.” I was anxious that I might be terminated from SCS. When I opened it and read her invitation to the Dirty Dozen, I sat in stunned silence for several moments. I went to the kitchen and told my sons the news, and then I broke out in a cold sweat. I called my husband to give him the news and his response was, “The Dirty What?" I explained to him what the Dirty Dozen is, he then replied, "You’ve got to do it.” It took a few hours of contemplation before I had the courage to e-mail Julie and accept this once in a lifetime offer.
A little about me: I worked as a legal secretary from 1978 to 1990. I met my husband in 1979 when we were in college (Go Gators!). We have been married for 24 years; our silver anniversary is coming up in June. After we married, we moved to New Orleans where my husband did a four year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He completed his residency in 1987, and we returned home to Florida, settling in Tampa. When our first son was born, I became a SAHM. We have two sons; Stephen will be 18 in August and is currently waiting to hear from the colleges heÂ’s applied to. Daniel will be 15 next month; heÂ’s a freshman in high school and enjoys working out and playing football.
My hobbies include embroidery, cross stitch on linen, gardening, and stamping. I was introduced to stamping three years ago by a dear friend who had become an SU demonstrator. I ordered an Earth Elements kit from her, and from the time I stamped my first image, I was totally addicted to stamping. Everything IÂ’ve learned about stamping IÂ’ve learned from SCS. When I first learned of this site, I spent morning and night pouring through the galleries and forums, reading technique after technique. I was a lurker for several weeks before I got up the nerve to leave a comment on a card. I finally got brave and uploaded a card, and then another, and another, well you get the picture. A year-and-a-half ago I became a StampinÂ’ Up! demonstrator. I enjoy teaching technique classes in my home.
I love being a member of SCS. I have grown tremendously in my stamping due to the influence of the very talented stampers I have met here. A warm thank you to everyone for your kind and wonderful comments on my cards. I am much honored to have been asked to become a Dirty Dozen Team Member and will do my very best to create cards and projects that will inspire your creative talents. Thank you, Julie, for believing in me.
