The Potowatomi called the area where Kenosha, Wisconsin is 'Kenozia' which means 'place of the pike'. The Menominee referred to the place as Kenusiw, meaning 'Northern Pike', as in the fish. Kenosha is right above the border of Illinois, on Lake Michigan. It has 8 miles of lakefront and two lighthouses, one of which is an art studio. Famous people from Kenosha are Orson Welles, Don Ameche, Mark Ruffalo, Lionel Hampton and Jim Rygiel, who won three Oscars for Lord of the Rings special effects. Kenosha is a corporate home to Snap-on Tools and Jockey clothing. It used to be known for automotive production, like American Motors. Sadly, in 2020, it was a place of riots, protests and civil unrest, finally resulting in Jacob Blake's death at the hand of Kyle Rittenhouse. They are still recovering.
I found a photo of a Lake Michigan lighthouse, not the one in Kenosha, but further up near Manitowoc. I liked that the lighthouse was lit and it was snowy. I kept the surrounding of the diecut circle and layered that circle over it. I thought the blue of the sky was so beautiful. This card is also for today's sketch, which I liked a lot, Kim.
