I needed a bit of a play day today to give my feet some rest from all the packing I'm doing. I hurt from the knees down.
I combined yesterday's tea party featuring something to do with waves and today's sketch, which was challenging for me. As I was thinking about waves and looking at the beautiful gallery with all the ocean and water cards, I knew I needed to do something different and all of a sudden, out of the blue, came the lyrics from America the Beautiful...oh beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain. But I didn't want to do just another patriotic card for the US. All over the world people are planting grains to feed all of us. I'm not sure why but, back in my early days of stamping, I bought three different wood mounteds with wheat or rice sheaves and I used all three. I just purged 5 plastic grocery bags of wood mounteds so I better use the ones I kept. I'm very fond of them.
Because my supplies are getting rather limited from packing, I used good old Versamark and ep on top of the beautiful BG dsp lucky. I stamped the rice sheaf on the left in Versafine Clair golden meadow with some fallen leaves sponged in the middle. The circles are stamped with the same rice sheaf stamp and then I computer generated the lyric. I didn't want the three circles to be rigid so I spaced them differently. Contemplating whether to add any LP or Nuvo Drops or the like.
I really enjoyed making this card, always therapeutic, except for my poor feet. Thanks for the challenges!

Lovely card, Jean, I like the embossing. As for amber waves of grain, it makes me think of where I grew up because my hometown was surrounded by wheat fields. I loved to watch the wind create the waves in the fields, so pretty.

WONDERFUL take on the challenge and I'm so happy someone besides me took waves to be something other than water. The gold and copper embossing add an elegance to lift the simple sheaves of grain.

Very beautiful card and design, and I love that you chose to play off the words to America the Beautiful. Creative and classy, love the metallic accents.
