This is for today's WT (song inspiration), yesterday's ABC16X24 and Tuesday's teapotter from Linda (hotwheels). Her Mom had a collection of teapots which Linda still has and fondly remembers her when she looks at them.
Because I had wanted to think about Linda's challenge, I waited to see what the WT was today. We were to choose a song and since the theme for the tea party was teapots, I Googled songs with the word 'tea' in them. There are quite a few but I was really taken with this one: Nat King Cole's 'When I Take My Sugar to Tea.' Never heard it before and it's delightful! He is one of my favorite singers ever! There is a Frank Sinatra version too.
I tried a new technique from Natasha Foote, arranging two patterns of paper into 'ribbons'. I just love this paper made in India at Jo Ann Fabrics...gorgeous colors and patterns. I used a lot of gold and green metallics. The little spoon is stamped with the gold pigment ink and clear embossed. I used the clear glitter LP for 'sugar' on the leaves on the cup and on the spoon. I have a sentiment inside: 'A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.' It made me think of my Mom, who forgot most everything from two minutes ago, but could still sing songs from long ago.
Finally, the ribbon pattern 'sort of' looks like the letter X (maybe more like Z actually) for ABC16. Artistic license taken here.

I also love Nat King Cole's music .... I'd never heard this one before. Great job combining all the challenges. This is a fun take on Natasha's technique! Doesn't she have the best technique videos!

What beautiful colors and great new technique - I love the look of the ribbon paper and the colors and patterns coordinate nicely, esp with the good accents. Very pretty card!

Beautiful mix of patterns and papers, Jean. I saw that same video and thought about that technique for x, I'm glad you did it. I like the fancy, lacy like edge on the left and the embossed edge of the base. Lovely!

So, fun, sitting here on Sunday afternoon, listening to the smooth NKC and enjoying reading how your card came to be. Luscious! Nice use of scale here, too!
