Well, March happened. Seems like it was in like a lion, roared all month, and out like a lion. And that doesn't even take into account some of the weather we've had! Thought I'd sneak in a card before the month is officially over.
This is for a couple of challenges - the Featured Stamper this month is Cindy H. Looks like Cindy and I joined SCS within about 2 weeks of each other way back in 2007. So over the years I've seen many of her creations in the gallery - wonderful work! Looking back at some of her early cards and the comments on them reminded me of so many SCS members that have been a big part of this site over the years. I came across these two cards: Wildflowers by Cindy H. at Splitcoaststampers Wild Flowers for your Birthday by Cindy H. at Splitcoaststampers
I loosely used the colours from one and the layout from the other to create a card to give a pat on the back to Cindy during her week in the limelight. I had to put a ribbon across the image as I was so disappointed in the way my 'shadow' under the vase looked that I needed to hide it. No mistakes in stamping, just embellishment opportunities.
I have also included this card for the Alpha Challenge for the letter N - Nostalgic. Between the journey through Cindy's gallery and using this particular stamp, I found myself feeling quite nostalgic for my early days on SCS. I bought this stamp in a little shop in Florida in 2010 while on an outing with two SCS gals that I'd only ever met online. Cherylquilts and BeckyTE - such lovely people - I smile at the memories of that day whenever I lay eyes on this stamp. I had actually pulled it out a week or so ago to make some spring cards so I was delighted that Cindy had used it on cards in her gallery.
As far as the USEIT2022 challenge, well, in addition to the stamp, the dies, DSP and ribbon have been in my stash for years. Time to use it up!
Hopefully life settles down a wee bit in April! Of course as the snow disappears I'll be itching to be out tending to my lily beds!
FS790 = Cindy H
USEIT2022 = Use up that stash!
ABC16N14 = Nostalgic
(I got way behind and was holding off posting any Alpha Challenge cards until I could add the ones I've missed to my gallery in order. Gave up on that and will try and catch up as I can.)
Thanks so much for stopping by. Off to take care of the grands for the next three days. Will check out the gallery as I am able....

Beautiful vase of flowers and your ribbon is really pretty. I like how you placed your sentiment on it. Meeting those two girls must have been a huge treat.

Hey, Heather! So nice to see you got a bit of crafting and creating into the blur that was March! I love the nostalgia of your sweet bouquet as well as the fortuitous save as aptly described by Debbie. It really adds a lovely element. Ribbon has always been a challenge for me so I love seeing it used well. I forgot Cheryl lives in Florida. I was recently there for 2 weeks. I visited Kittie there some years ago now. Yes, the nostalgia of bygone days, the wonder of the present and the hope of the future. I’m slated to stamp with some old friends in NY later this month so I’m busy working on multiples and a shoebox project as well as the continuing home renovations...

This is such a wonderful card- love the bouquet and the memories behind it too! Meeting Cheryl would be so nice! I do not know of BeckyTE, but I am sure the three of you had a memorable day! Beautiful card- I do not worry about when I post which letter- as Ann says- people before paper!

I don't go as far back as you do on SCS but I feel a bit of nostalgia when I see posts from people from when I first started. Your card is lovely! The image is no nice and you have used the die cuts and ribbon to support it beautifully. I think the ribbon is place 'just so'! I have that little Thank You stamp. I don't know the maker either but I got it from the $ bin at Michael's long ago.
