This is my entry for today's Alphabet Challenge, N for nostalgic and also for a Ways to Use Challenge to try the bargello background technique.
I thought about the nostalgic idea and probably went in a different direction than intended. I went back to the early days of my stamping experience. My DH and I went to visit my college roommate and her DH. Little did I know, but she was a SU demo. She showed me all the things, we did some stamping, and I was hooked. I ordered some stamps and inks from her and hand-painted petites and great greetings were two of my earliest sets. I paired it with some retired dsp - Cottage Wall - that I've had for quite a while.
When doing the Bargello technique, I cut my strips from Cottage Wall and also thinner strips from silver foil. I followed the steps to make this background using the tutorial available right here on SCS. When my background was complete, I matted it with a thin black cs mat.
I stamped my flower using Old Olive and Orchid Opulence (a long retired color) and then stamped the sentiment over top, heat embossing the sentiment. Die cut it with an oval, sponged the edge, and popped it up on the background.
Oh, and that was an expensive visit to my college roommate. We haven't stayed with them since that visit! LOL
Thanks for the challenges and thanks for looking!

Love this card- the colors are beautiful!!! I love the flowers softly stamped with the sentiment. LOL, funny you have not gone back to visit! But a memorable one none the less!
