I have at least one die (a sax), and a whole category of stamps set for music and birds which doesn't even include Penny Black stamps featuring guitar, flute and piano, and I would love to try the grand piano tutorial which was in the Inkling a couple of weeks back ( when I was very young we had two pianos, a full grand and an upright. The grand wasn't particularly a good piano, so my dad turned the top and legs into a large coffee table, which used to confuse people enormously when they walked into the room and saw a very low piano. The frame made a great shelf in the garden shed. I still have the upright!) - so I don't know why I went with the guitar card which I have already made in the past. Maybe because I feel as if I am forever tripping over guitars and guitar cases! DH uses to keep one in his mother's house, but that came back here when she died last year.
Anyway, I followed the tutorial in resources, using my own faux wood technique, which is simply re-inker mixed with PVA and spread with a foam brush. I discovered it accidentally once when I mixed the wrong things for the faux barnboard technique. I used beading cord for the strings, and Nuvo Drops at the ends of them. The rosette was embossed and detailed with a Posca pen. I sponged some old music with blue, spatteted with gold and edged with Stickles.

Sabrina I am always in AWE of your guitar cards. I really want to make one and need to get this in my list of things to try one day when I have a bit of extra time. Great colors too.

Oh this is awesome and such a great story as well! Really like what you created here - it's probably more time and energy than I generally invest in carding but the guitar looks so real. I only own one and still play that old John Denver song. He left us way to young...

This is very cool.
That wood technique really works. I have to try it sometime. The blue against the wood is a rich color combo. I thought at first you had used brads. Fooled me! lol I like the stickles detail.

I really thought you had taken a photo of a guitar before I read your post. This is just beautiful. The wood is fabulous.
