Today's Tea Party is headed to John for some paper cheer. I didn't have anything humorous to fit the occasion so I went to Lori's (ArtzadoniStudio) Gallery for some inspiration. John's happy place is Hawaii and I found this bright, cheerful card by Lori: JUN21VSNMINI1 Wild ALOHA by ArtzadoniStudio at Splitcoaststampers
I love the bright colors and the Island feel to it.
I own a Gelli plate mainly because Lori kept encouraging to try it. So I did. On this card, my early attempts looked mostly like mud -- I need to practice layering. So, I started afresh by inking the stencil, laying it on the Gelli Plate and then pressing the paper into that. To avoid mud, I reverted to good old ink smooshing using my glass mat. Die cut and stacked the letters five times using the same green as the matting. Stamped, fussy cut and added the hibiscus blooms. There was too much white on them for me, so I used a bunch of stickles in the center to help camouflage the white. Since I am not able to scan and upload for some reason, I tried my best to take a snapshot. Although I couldn't achieve the vibrancy of Lori's colors, my colors are much brighter and more tropical IRL.
I hope both John and Lori feel embraced and supported by the cards flying their way. Health issues are difficult to navigate in the best of times, but when there is no concrete diagnosis, it is extremely frustrating and that adds to the difficulty -- at least for me. So along with this card, I am sending prayers for the doctors to get a break and figure out what's up and design an effective treatment plan pronto. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are having a bright and colorful day as well.

There's certainly no sign of mud here. I agree, though, the gel plate takes a bit of practice to learn what works...but it's worth playing around with. Inspired by Polly's alcohol ink prints I had a go on my mini plate the other night but only got one print I could use. You certainly got a great tropical background which is lovely with the eclipse sentiment.
I also agree that lack of a definite diagnosis is very hard.
