Know what I love about the Color Challenge? Sometimes It can be a REAL challenge! I'm sure there will be lots of beautiful masculine cards in the gallery this week, but I must admit to struggling with this combo.
But again, that makes it even more fun for me when I finally come up with something I like! The colors this week are Cinnamon Cider, Misty Moonlight and Evening Evergreen, with the dessert option being "masculine."
I pulled out one of my few masculine sets, Nature Silhouettes. My wood-mount stamps are still mounted on wood, and so I also pulled out my trusty Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. Applied ink to the tree, grass and leaves and stamped on a piece of Misty Moonlight DS paper. Then I stamped the buck in Cinnamon Cider ink. Created an embossed layer with my new Painted Texture embossing folder, cut "Celebrate" from Misty Moonlight cardstock, mounted on a base of Evening Evergreen, and added some linen twine.
OK, true confessions: After the card was done and I'd taken a picture (just in case!), I stamped the buck again with Cinnamon Cider ink, because I could see the DS pattern through the image. I was amazed at the precision I got with the SAMJ, thought I was done and took anther picture. But then I decided I could still see through the buck, so I gathered all my courage, pulled out some Distress Oxide ink (a combination of dye and pigment, so not as transparent as dye ink), and stamped one more time. Again, a good result, to my absolute amazement. Third picture is what you see above!
This card goes to my grandson, who is graduating from high school this month.
Thanks for reading my saga! Can't wait to see what you create with this colors this week!
