First congrats to the hostesses (and all of us) who have made it through 1 year of watercolor challenges!! It has been quite a journey.
Today Brenda has us painting tulips. I sketched my basic tulip shape on WC paper then started with apple green on the leaves. Next I popped in a bit of Kelly green - time for shadows and a leap of faith - I added brown to the greens on my tray and then some black and flicked these colors into the recesses of my leaf trying to create an illusion of some curves. Now to the flower - I began with pale yellow at the base of the petals and then used varying intensities of real red and carmine. I considered adding a pale blue wash which I could see working in my minds eye BUT in the end decided to leave well enough alone as I was concerned about the carmine bleeding . . . Die cut the SB sentiment and fancy edge on the yellow and layered it all together.

I'm just gazing at this beauty thinking how far we've come and how proud we should be. You, my friend, are amazing. This tulip looks like a photo. This may sound crazy, but my favorite thing about this card is that yellow spot at the base of the flower that just makes it so lifelike. High five!
