This is Oscar. He is a Sandhill Crane who comes to visit every summer at my friends house in WI. Oscar has a damaged leg so they can tell it is the same bird each year. He comes and hangs out in the front yard and the last several years he has had a girl friend that he brings along. I had taken a picture of him a few years ago and that is what I used for a reference for this painting. I might even get to go visit Oscar this year. Thanks for visiting him, too.
I need to get my camera out more when I'm at home. But the birds here do not cooperate quite as much as Oscar did. Happy Teapotting.

Wow, you painted this? It’s so pretty. Love the way you painted Oscar and the sweet yellow flowers welcoming him back. We were just up in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin this past week but unfortunately didn’t see any Sandhill Cranes. Oh well, maybe another trip.

I thought that I left a comment on Oscar already, but apparently, I forgot to hit the "submit" button...sorry for my senior moment! It's a good thing I came back to admire Oscar again and found out what I did (or didn't do).
I am in awe that you sketched and painted this, Pat! I love how you captured Oscar's majesty even with a broken leg, and the background scene is just as beautiful! The backstory is awesome, too - I only see white cranes in our area when it is early spring, and they stay for about a week or two only. Thank you for a fun challenge this week, I enjoyed seeing all the birds in the gallery!
