Kia, what a marvelous Inspiration Challenge this week! Fashion: wearable, sketchable, sewable, paintable...thank you. It was this gorgeous dress that was the one.
It was grand fun to work my fashionable lady into the sketch this week, Cathy! I do love to take creative license with the elements. Hope you can see the basic shapes there.
I started with a base of a glittered purple paper that was dry embossed with Tim's Sewing EF. I sanded the paper to reveal the pattern even more. The B Line Designs woman was paper pieced with Memory Box DP. I added 'glass' buttons, a 'diamond' necklace made with Stickles 'Starlight' and touched up the color of her hair.
The quote: You were born an Original, Don't die a copy. It was stamped onto a scrap of AI and embossed in clear.
I must admit I lament the days of my mother when gloves were worn as well a hat to lunch, bridge club, and of course church on Sunday. I miss watching my mother getting ready...I can almost smell her 'Evening in Paris' (smile...not really)! I've had my cycles of fashion for myself. Now it's gardening clothes or cycling attire. How about you?
Thanks so much for your comments...I appreciate the gift of your time and memories!

Chuckling to myself to find out EVERY woman of "that age" must have worn Evening in Paris! I thought the blue & silver bottle on my mom's dresser was SO elegant but the fragrance - phew! I love your lady and the draped jacket - the sanded embossing turned out fabulous.

Fabulous card and sentiment, Susan! Your memories reminded me too of when people used to get dressed up to fly on an airplane! Those days are sure gone!
