This card is for the Ways To Use It Challenge. Check out the challenge Here and come and play.
Those who know me know that I am not a fold card maker girl. Not that I don't like them...I love them. They just scare me......however this year I plan to try and make some. This is for DIL2's birthday that is coming up. I wanted to make something extra special for her and when I saw a video on Youtube on how to make this card I thought I would give it a go.
Phew...I wish it was as easy for me as the lady in the video made it look. She did, however, use scored dies for her cut and also for the front of her card out of a co-ordinating die pack. I had to improvise.
First I used a die to cut the window inside the back panels which once you see the inside of this card you will know what I'm talking about LOL. Now for me that was tricky and after 3 attempts I finally got it right. A little wonky and not scored....which I did afterwards and made up my own measurements but it worked just fine.
Die cut the scallop circle and middle panel. So far so good. Die cut a large tag and stamped my sentiment....again this will make sense if you look at the inside of the card. I thought I was doing really good by this stage until I put my tag in the pull part I made using tape and found that when I pulled it, the sentiment had been stamped on the wrong part of the tag....doh, doh, doh!
I am not someone to be put off by small challenges, so I simply took my tag out and stamped it where it was supposed to go making sure that it fitted into the window I had cut. I was tempted to start all over but it looked so pretty and I didn't have the energy to start again.
Back to the card....I knew that where I had stamped the first sentiment a gift card would cover it, so I simply covered the tag with more DP...phew another close shave.
Once my pull tag and window sentiment were working ok I added ribbon to the tag and wrote the word "Pull" however the circle covers this up so that was unnecessary LOL. Oh well. The window was a little wonky and in the video the lady had mentioned about adding embellishments to cover. So I did, as well as some distress inks. It's not perfect but given my first attempt I'm ok with it.
Added a temporary gift card to make sure all worked ok and finished....after I don't know how many hours LOL. Seriously it wasn't that bad and I will definitely make another at some stage now I know what I was supposed to do.
The morale of this story is...always watch the whole video first and don't rush ahead thinking you know what's coming next...as in my case I found I had thought it wrong LOL. Thankfully I managed to rescue it.
TFL. Happy day
