Looking back, I wish I had done more of Debbie's muted background design and more of the IC picture's yellow and green tones. I was going for icy and I think I got it.
My background was done with a layer of tea bags so linking it to MMJ09 which is Playing with teabags) - it also has the tea leaves mixed in too. Here is my steps:
Gesso down the tea bags.
Second layer of gesso sprinkle in tea leaves
Third layer of gesso.
Layer of brown paint (completely cover)
Squirt on some blue paint and spread around
Squirt on some off-white acrylic paint and spread around
Squirt on some white paint and spread around
Stencil on numbers and words with texture paste
Stamp on script font background
Stamp on snowflakes (broken china so you have to look closely)
Spatter on Snow tex
Fun!
Congrats, Debbie. I know you will love seeing others inspired by your creations. Have fun!

So much texture on this journal page from a squirt of this and a squirt of that . These are all colors I have come to associate with you when enhanced and highlighted by the hits of chocolatey brown and like alot of your work every time I scroll up my eyes catch a new and different element - like the key which although fairly prominent, I missed on my first several views as I concentrated on the bird and bg text.

Nancy, this is a work of art. Every detail is wonderful and draws the eye in to see what else there is see. I don't know if I would ever have the patients to try this technique with all those steps but you surely have a creative talent with it. Gorgeous and intriguing.

Awesome...love how you do all these techniques, and so well! Love the key, gesso and you did capture an icy look! Exquisite journal page!
