I created this card for two challenges. Our Teapot Party Challenge this week goes to Bill. We are to encourage, bring cheer, or a Good Word. Bill is a big reader. Polly asked us to create a card based on a favorite book of ours or a general book theme. I felt I could make a comforting room for Bill.
Dina's Falliday Challenge was Making Spirits Light. Use a source of light in creating our cards. The chandelier and the Good Book are my light sources.
The room was created first with the wall of books stamp from Club Scrap. I absolutely adore this image. It is a dream of mine to have floor to ceiling library similar to what you see on Bill's card. Complete with the rolling ladder. I used Archival 'Sepia'. Next was to make the corner with German Scrap in black. I cut the foil down the center to make a narrow moulding. Isn't the painting cool? It really gives a 3D appearance. I cut it from a Serena & Lily catalog. Once I had the big elements in the room, I stamped the chair and ottoman (Katzelkraft) embossing them with various ex's. I stamped the chair twice, so I could get the pillows in turquoise picking up the colors in the painting. The oval rug is a scrap of handmade Indian paper...a wonderful texture. The baseboard is another piece of German Scrap, the thicker side. It trimmed the TH dictionary Washi tape which I left the Memory definition showing beside the chair. On top of the ottoman is the Good Book. I embossed the bottom in Translucent Gold and left the Holy Bible in black ink. Lastly, I found a chandelier in the Serena & Lily catalog and fussy cut it for my library room.
I hope that Bill gets a lift from my card. There is such comfort in reading and remembering good times.
If you are interested in seeing another of my library rooms, I have all I need was much fun as well! I appreciate your thoughts.

I see the Sylvia Beach Hotel in Newport. You MUST have gone there, Susan. I personally love the Jules Verne room, and the food at "The Tables Of Content" is superb. The library in your stamped/collage minds eye is so inviting, as is all your art. I'm all over that lamp, and in fact, all your room accessories.

Oh my goodness - this reminds me of one of the old houses I worked in in the UK many moons ago. The elderly lady I worked for practically lived in the library because it was smaller and easier to heat than the other formal rooms. My favourite bit is the painting, but I love the lampshade, too.
One of my vivid childhood memories of any visit from my uncle was seeing him move from bookshelf to bookshelf and stand with his hand clasped behind his back scanning the shelves in case we had any of his books . They weren't quite floor to ceiling, although one shelf along the dining-room wall was, pretty much. And full of books of my grandmother's house, too, so it looked not unlike your great stamp.

I feel sure that if he doesn't have a similar floor to ceiling library and the rolling ladder, that Bill, who loves to read, shares your dream of having those in his home. He will surely love your card!

I happened to see this as I browsed the gallery and am in awe of the creative way you used catalogue images and combined them with handmade papers and stamping. This is just spectacular and so very cozy. I used to buy a lot of Club Scrap stamps back in the day and only wish I had this wall of books one. I'm a big reader, so this would get a lot of inking!
