Congrats to Mary, the newest Featured Stamper! So many lovely cards in here gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the Christmas theme & making a poinsettia out of a leaf image, but I also used a real leaf to âprintâ the larger petals & only made one large poinsettia instead of many smaller ones.
I started w/ my die cut white panel & some real leaves I picked off one our Crape Myrtle trees. The shape reminded me of poinsettia petal, but these are a lot sturdier & easy to print. I "inked" the leaf & printed it 5 times for the larger petals, then used a rubber leaf stamp for the smaller petals. The splatter was stamped once w/ scarlet & again w/ gold ink & heat embossed w/ gold powder. I used a gold leaf Krylon pen around the edges, added the greeting & some gold gems in the center of my poinsettia.
Thanks so much for looking. It's on my blog w/ more details & pics of the process & leaves I used: The Write Stuff

Beautiful, Julie! A real leaf for printing - this is a new idea for me. It looks fantastic! I luv poinsettias, but have to enjoy them on paper because they could make my cat sick if she ate a leaf.

I love this card and especially that you stamped using real leaves... it resulted in such detailed images with the veins. The finishing embellishments and splatter made for perfect finishing touches.
