This card is for the Teapot Party where we had to make a silly card with animals and for added bonus points include a flower and purple.
It is also for the Alpha challenge. S = silly, stacked, spackle, stencil, smile...who can resist those grins...and inside the sentiment says âeoesending you a smile to lift your dayâe ....double whammy s's.
This card also took me 3 hours to make..yep..ask one of the alpha ladies who witnessed this lol.
After stamping my meerkats and cats I started to colour them with my copics. I put a border around them and some grass...yep there's some green layers underneath that golden shine....I opted to leave that and start on the sky. Stuffed that up when Ann, our Alpha legend and leader gave me a tip on how to create clouds using a border die like a stencil.
Coloured around those and then back to the ground..oops sand. It has 4 different colours on it but wasn't grabbing me so out came the watercolour paints. Much better and oh so shiny. You wouldn't believe how many layers are on this card.
Back to the sky...watercolour paints added there too and whipped spackle..those clouds have texture. Yummy. It is at this point I realise I had forgotten purple. No probs..another tip from Ann and purple paint added onto my sky.
That is when I remembered my purple sparkley alcohol ink I had bought recently. Dropped some dots of that onto texture paste and put that through a dotty stencil. After all this card had to be silly and to make the recipient smile.
Did I finish there...nope. Out came the sparkly medium and I'm scraping it on the cats and meerkats.
Flower sticker added and liquid pearl ball near the cat..now that is another story,
I had fun and I hope the recipient will know what blood, sweat and love went into making this lol.
TFL. Happy day

That was some amount of masking, Jane, no wonder the card took ages, but it's total fun. Those sneaky cats look great in the scene, and I love the sand. Brought back memories of seeing meerkats in France last year.

I am convinced it is not possible to frown and look at a meerkat. Jayne everything about this is full of fun and adventure. Thank you for sharing your journey - it sounds like you and your Alpha sisters had a ball and it shows in this fabulous mixed media creation.

This is so much fun, Jayne! I liked it when I saw it on Zoom and this is even better (since it is bigger!). It has so many layers of coloring medium on it, I love the sparkle I can see from your metallic watercolors. Fabulous!

Just reading this saga had me grinning. Sometimes a card just doesn't end. Bless you that you kept going until it was truly complete. I have a feeling the recipient will have a great appreciation for your efforts. All of those grinning meerkats makes for a great design.

You had me a meercats, Jayne! ( I love watching those little buggers) I am seeing LOTS of the shimmer & shine on your card both in the sky and the sand - that's usually hard to capture in a pic so I'm betting it is over the top sparkly in real life. .
PS - I'm still looking for the grass (tee hee hee)

Those adorable meerkats will make you smile for sure, but those unexpected cats with those surprised looks are a definite bonus. Loved the story of bringing this card to life. Love when something that isn't working can be turned into something that is...and this definitely is. Love all the sparkle and shine. If it looks this shiny here, I can only imagine how it looks in real life. Fun, fun card for Tana.
