Firstly this is for the Tea Pot Party this week. I was working on this mermaid today and up came the challenge to create a water park themed card. Yes - Of Course mermaids have water parks. My Water Sprite is at the local water park - playing basketball on the beach. She won't run out of balls (sea sponges) in a hurry as there are a lot to be had. Yes - is playing in her finery - pearls. If we all had a string of these pearls we would play in them too. I for one would never take them off.
Secondly for last Week's Water Colour Wednesday challenge. Making the salted water colour background was fun. I made three oh so different ones. I picked this one for my mermaid card. One thing you have to remember is the salt used for the background. It was hard to stamp up a good image of the mermaid silhouette on the salty background - but I persisted until I go a good inky image. Lost count of the times it took me to achieve it. Coloured in the mermaid with sparkly gel pens and stamped a row sea urchins across the bottom. Stamped and coloured just on sea urchin and fussy cut it out and placed it in her hand. Added some seaweed to the background and added the verse. I finished off with sponging around the edges.
Hope you enjoy - join me on the mermaid basket ball team.

Your salted bg makes an enchanting mermaid water park. I really like the partial text repeated down you panel - it adds interest and framing with out being overbearing.

Magical and wonderful. Your background is incredible. I spotted the sea urchins straight away, and loved them. I like them in real life too, except that once in Greece I stood on one. Now I wear swim shoes if I can't see the sea bed clearly. I love the soft orange weeds growing in the background, too.
