I have the privilege of hosting this weeks TEAparty on behalf of Andrea aka papercrafter40. Andrea's friends Janet and Bruce are facing Bruce's terminal cancer, so we are sending paper hugs and comforting thoughts.
Janet is a card maker, so our challenge is to use a "paper" technique - I chose to do paper piecing, with a twist. Instead of stamping or printing onto the patterned paper, I used a light box flatform and traced the pieces to be paper pieced, with a fine micron pen.
This little couple are digi stamps by LOTV, I also have them in bare rubber, but they are very little and I find them difficult to fussy cut without amputating something.
The images were printed on copy paper then coloured with Prismacolour pencils, Zest it pencil blend and a colourless blending pencil. I coloured everything, including the bits I knew would be covered with patterned paper, just incase the piecing doesn't look right or is cut too fine. Before fussy cutting, I gently wiped a walnut stain foam blending tool over the images.
I paper pieced the little chaps hat and his sweeties cardigan, shoes and socks. They were adhered using a glue stick, you have a few seconds to slide the pieced bits in place when using a glue stick. If you don't like the look, you can remove the piece all together as the glue doesn't stain and is invisible when completely dry.
I hope you get a chance to join in and send some paper hugs to Janet and Bruce. Thank you for looking and be safe.
EDIT: Looking at the picture here, I can see that I did not wipe any walnut stain ink on the two little punched flowers. The ink gives a lovely aged effect.

This image is so very adorable- cannot believe its done on copy paper, I will have to try that, and also have to try using a light box for the paper piecing- which is done beautifully and so fussy too! Love your colors and background too. Fabulous card!

Love how you did the paper piercing...clever. The kids are perfect, details amazing and his "bouquet" for his "girl" is fantastic! Fantastic work.

Oh my goodness Miss Susie...this image is too cute and I had to read the description to see the paper piecing. Brilliant and adorable all wrapped up in one card.

How very sweet, Susie. And oh my, what amazing paper piecing!!! That was a labour of love to trace and then cut. I especially love her little gingham cardigan - and the pearls in her bow and the flowers.

Oh, you are so creative using that light box. The little cardigan and matching socks are darling. And, the little boy is so spiffy. I love that he has the sweet flowers for his love. Just the cutest card, Susie.
