I used last week's sketch challenge to make my Alphabet card which is also for last Wednesday. It was a double letter challenge, L and S. L is represented by layers and leaves, and S is represented by stencil and sponging.
First I took the two colors of distress ink and smooshed them onto some plastic, spritzed with water, and pounced my paper through the ink. I got a fairly smooth background so dried it and then repeated with less water to get some texture to it.
I took the stencil and stenciled only leaves on the Granny Apple Green piece using matching ink. I then took the focal image layer and sponged the two distress inks on the rose and used Granny Apple Green for the leaves once again. I lightly sponged some blue ink on the white cs to tone it down. I matted this piece with a thin black mat and heat embossed the sentiment on a black cs strip.
No patterned paper was harmed in the making of this card!
Thanks for looking!

This is so pretty Catherine and the colors make it even prettier. Your card is tucked full of techniques which is a real feast for the eyes. I am relieved to read that no patterned papers were injured in the making of this beautiful card. ~Karen.
