Stacy provided marvelous inspiration with this week's Children's book Illustrated board. This owl inspired me and helped me complete this week's Watercolor challenge Using Unexpected Colors and DH's Father's Day card! This stamp has never seen ink, so it fits last week's Ways to Use It and and the USEIT202 challenges too.
I stamped the owl on WC paper and watercolored with Distress ink. Once I painted his eyes citron, I knew that was my unexpected color and added it to his body. I die cut the flip card base and embossed with wood grain. Die cut a black circle and a tree branch and layered the pieces. Stamped the sentiment in Sepia and a tapped off black to create the effect of carving into the tree. TFL

Now this is a wonderful card. Love all the wood grain embossing - making a perfect tree and a nice nest home for this colourful owl. The unusual highlights look great.
