I took on Jean's (jkanack) challenge (TLC789) to create an adhesive resist from a variety of products. I used a medium gel and a bit of gel bead medium. These two were applied through the Crafters' Warehouse 'Wisteria' stencil. I left it to dry for a day or so. I knew I would use the Gelatos (3 purples and two greens). The bead gel is really a cool product. There are really tiny glass beads in the medium. Once dry, they are clear. My only thought will be next time I'll use more. A wonderful texture!
When I had the color laid on to my fancy, I knew I'd have to fussy cut those gorgeous blooms free...
And so I used another Arches Watercolor 'board' for the background. Their papers are marvelous. The panel is stapled to the edges. I scored by hand and bent the blooms. Stapled the edges to the background. Added the mixed media trim to the top. I love the texture. I chose the Paul Gaugin quote:
I shut my eyes in order to see
Added an opened Wisteria seed pot and a smaller one. Three seeds were scattered around the quote as well. That's it! Oh, and the color purple! Toni has asked us to bring purple to the Way to Use it Challenge. Wisteria makes a fine specimen.
So what does the Gaugin quote mean to you? I'd love to hear! To me, I think it is a way to be able to focus on all your senses on the present moment. To feel the texture of the flower petals in all stages of blooming as well as the seed pods. They are like velvet on the outside and so strong...protecting those seeds. I can recall the smell sweet at first and then drifting away. And when I opened my eyes, there would be that scrumptious color. Purple.
Thanks for stopping by. Can't wait to see the galleries...thank you, Jean and Toni for challenging us in fresh ways this week!

Susan, this is stunning. Such beautiful depth for the wisteria and the seeds and pods lead the eyes to that marvelous quote. Thank you for the lovely inspiration.

When I saw your title for this card, I automatically shut my eyes. I saw purple. Maybe it was because I knew your card would have purple in it. I don't know. But when I read the sentiment on your gorgeous card, I shut them again and thought more about what that really means. Your use of the resist mediums is very cool and your cutting really made this just like the wisteria hanging from my neighbor's tree. I think most of it has gone now though.
