As far as the VSN goes, this is for the very first mini. Kim asked us to follow the tissue paper wc tutorial. The purple background, which started as white tissue with those colorful metallic flecks, has several DOx sprays and water added. It seemed a bit easier to do a big piece that way, just stuck it in my spraying box. Stamped a bunch of flowers and leaves on it in many colors.
For this week's tickle challenge, we were to use a book cover for our inspiration. When I'm feeling sad, lonely, stressed, worried, you know, the whole gamut, I reread a book that has given me pleasure, has a happy ending and is usually a classic. I reread books quite often, like Austen, Alcott, Rowling. I used a cover of Little Women, a book I've reread more times than I can count. The background is dark green, so I used a layer of that color, stamped my tissue paper background with lots of flowers and leaves and used this huge die with some gold adhesive paper. It's a gorgeous die with vines and a little house...Peace Begins Here. Isn't that true???? And even though the Marches' home wasn't always truly peaceful, there was love, respect, forgiveness, music and a willingness to help others. I diecut the four silhouettes to represent the four sisters: Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. I've decided my oldest granddaughter is like Jo: spirited, athletic, somewhat volatile and loves to read and write.
One more VSN!!!!!!

Love this. And love knowing I am not the only one to re read a favourite novel. Mine is Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher.
Your card is charming with the silhouette white sisters in the corner and intriguing tissue paper background to show off the gold diecut!

What a neat way to capture the essence of that book cover Beautiful background and die cut - I especially like the use of the white silhouette Portraitures , each with a butterfly in her hair.

Jean, I love the book and your card. Your tissue paper technique turned out perfectly and that die is gorgeous and very true. Little Women is a book that I have read a few times and one of the few books we had in our home when growing up. Now I keep as many books as possible in our home. TFS. Hugs. Keep well

Wow, I am so fortunate to hold this card in my hands. It is so special. The tissue paper bg is lovely and the photo can't really do it justice. I've fluffed up the butterflies on the sisters hair. That die cut is amazing. I am so glad this beloved book gets to live at my house. Peace definitely begins with all.

Jean, I love your card with all of the details, and the story behind it is wonderful! I really like how you stamped on the already-colored tissue background! Thanks for playing along with my challenge!
