Tuesday the 31st is definitely the last Tuesday of the month, so it's Tickle a Teapotter time and Sue is our guest hostess with her book-cover inspired challenge HERE.
My book was Reading Behind Bars by Jill Grunenwald, and I used the pile of books on the cover as my inspiration. I've put a photo of the cover in the challenge thread.
The background is IO Cover-a-Card Bookshelves stamped in Versafine Smokey Grey on a grungy gel print on copy paper.
For the main image I stamped the Unity books on white card, coloured them with pencils and then coloured and sponged around them. I also drew in some bars. The little jail birds were stamped and fussy-cut; the Ohio prison uniform is blue, so that's what they're wearing. I used an oval that was lying on my desk to frame them, embossing it with Textile ef and sponging with brown. The image piece is popped up on foam, and I added decorative black corners.
Versafine Smokey Grey on a random gel print.
Prickley Pear Jailbirds fussy-cut, coloured with Polychromos (blue prison uniform) and perched on a stack of books - Unity Hodge Podge of Happiness. Elizabeth Crafts oval.

Love the muted gray book background in opposition to the bright and colorful framing and image coloring. The frame distressing makes for great vintage look.

Oh, you have thought of everything on this. Love that oval you had in your stash. I would never have though to draw in the bars, and those jail birds are hilarious! Great card! That looks like such an interesting book!

Oh my gosh Sabrina, this card is great fun. Those little jail birds made me laugh right out loud. You are so creative! What a great background stamp this is and one I am thinking I "need" to have. ~Karen.
