Happy Spring all! With our self isolation, social distancing, and self care, it is a blessing to have our virtual community to spread happiness and joy, don't you think? Polly is asking for Spring themed cards in the MIX this week and our Inspiration Hostess, Stacy has given us Ellen Hutson's website (I had to put my 'look only' hat on...so much fun new 'stuff')! I used a study in watercolor for my inspiration.
I am taking the quote's message for myself today...
Like Wildflowers;
You must allow yourself
To grow in all places
People thought you
Never Would.

Let me explain. I've been noticing many cards using wonderful backgrounds combined with a silhouette. And when I came across this Fun Stampers Journey wildflower Silhouette, I knew it was the one! So my 'GROW' was to freestyle the Twinkling H2O's in a pattern close to the silhouette and then overstamp the stamp. I used 5 shades of the 'twinks'. A springy card for Polly's challenge.
So far so good, I was happy with how my freehand flowers, grasses, and seed heads provided the background...the FSJ silhouette was inked with the Archival ink. Here's where I went south, though! Should have embossed with clear. As my thumbprints magically appeared all around the rub on above the sentiment. What was I thinking, rub on's had improved from years past when they would transfer broken or not transfer at all???? I was so disappointed I did not get a clean transfer and HAD dirtied up my card with thumbprints. After all my effort on the floral work and quote, how would I rescue it?
I decided to wrap the card with the gold and cream Hemp twine. Used a corner rounder at the top to draw the eye up and sprayed a bit of Tattered Angels 'Sunlight' shimmer spray.
A grunge Spring card, encouraging you to grow...thanks for following me to the end, if you did! I am always thankful for the gift of your comment.

I really like your take on the silhouette thing and adding colors instead of making it just black...it puts some Spring color on it ...as Martha S says,,it's a good thing. As far as your goof...actually it was meant to be...it was a signal that you needed that twine just there..I can't imagine it w/o it.

Gorgeous on many levels, Susan. I love the mix of images, the touches of gold, and that wonderful sentiment. Special card for sure. Hugz

OMG, I get black fingerprints on so many of my cards. I think I may never learn to wait for my Versafine to dry. But I didn't notice them on this card that is just gorgeous in every way. I love everything about this design! And I LOVE the sentiment!
