The stamp I used for the frame is a 5" x 7" stamp by the Rubber Cafe that I have owned for many years. It works great in the MISTI, I just used various coloured distress inks and water until I had the look I wanted.
While the cardstock was still a tiny bit damp, I tore 5/8" strips using a metal ruler. Once dry, I adhered several cardboard strips together, then used foam tape to attach the finished strips. I purposely glued the frame together at ever so slightly different lengths and angle, to give a rustic organic look.
I don't know if you can see it in the photo, but the coloured distress ink sky has fine brush marks under it. Long story short, I had some gesso left over the other day and decided to clean the pot and brush by using it up on cardstock.
Blending watery distress ink over gesso is like spreading melted butter and it gives a hand painted look....who knew!
Thank you for looking and I hope you are all safe and well.
EDIT: Polly's comment just reminded me...the little round door opens and I wrote "Hello Joann" inside.

Yep, you got the rustic organic look. Both your frame and Denise's remind me of an old reclaimed one my sister gave me with a photograph of sunrise over the sea from their last house. What a wonderful door - I know it's Lavinia so there's probably a fairy inside, but one feels it should be a hobbit. How fun that it actually opens!

Oh Susie, this magical card made me smile really big today! Your use of color and techniques is mind boggling to me, but I sure love reading about what you do. What you did with the gesso just made me giggle because you waste absolutely nothing my friend - my grandmother would be so proud of you for that! I love that you added a personal sentiment behind this magical door. Your rustic handmade frame is simply fantastic and is the perfect touch for framing out this wonderful/magical scene! Your wonderful use of liquid pearls just adds to the magical feel of this card. I know Joann will be thrilled with this beautiful card you made just for her. Sure hope you are enjoying your camping trip! ~Karen.

The rustic frame is just perfect for enclosing this wonderful scene. Gives the card such a aged look. Like the way your door opens for Joann to see your message. Another colourful creation.

Wowza, amazing, wonderful! I'm running out of adjectives! Love that rustic frame, the bitty round door, those amazing tree branches, and especially the "happy accident" background! Just love it all!

Awesome, Susie. I want to open those doors and look inside....so bad. Love your sky and the framing is fabulous. What a wonderful secret garden. I know someone that had a secret garden and she worked so hard in it. You couldn't see it unless you went past her regular garden and behind trees.
