I've been taking a coloring class and Kathy, our instructor, has challenged us to "Be Fearless" and "color pluck," picking random colors, instead of colors in the same color family (a light, medium and dark color). This really took me out of my comfort zone.
This is the third iris image I've colored and this time, I decided to pick some unexpected color combinations. It is hard to do when you've learned "traditional rules" of choosing colors. I used a peach, a blue-violet and red marker. I colored my iris image and added shadows and highlights with colored pencils. I also added white gel pen highlights. I fussy cut out image and glued onto dark blue card stock. I layered onto black cs and Deep Peach card (photo looks more red.)
I wanted to highlight image, so I added black dots around stamped image, then I added "x's" around blue layer so my card worked for the ABC challenge: X.
I'm glad I was "fearless" and used colors I'd normally not use. I think it's good to experiment now and then. Not my favorite card, but I did it.

Gracie, it's absolutely awesome. The iris pops out and looks 3D. I love the colours that you chose and it is good to sometimes go out of our comfort zone. I love that you are doing a colouring class and learning something new. Fabulous. TFS Happy day
