Saw the 3 ornaments in this image HERE and thought it was time for a trio of cards with these colors.
These may not look like one layer cards, but they are!
Sentiment: embossed in white, then masked in a strip as shown
Snowflakes: embossed in white
BG: sponged with shades of cs colors using the darkest color closest to the masking
Snow: white acrylic paint splatters
Detailing: After removing mask, white lines added with white gel pen as shown along masked strip

You are right - I would NEVER have taken these for single layer cards. I'm assuming you did tone on tone sponging on these, too, although you didn't mentions it in your description - to obtain that depth and glow.
