WooHoo it's Tickle a TEApotter time and Miss Boo aka Jen, is our guest hostess this month. Jen has given us a fun challenge.... be inspired by bees!
Originally I bought this cute Sherri Baldy image for our "berry" tickle back in July, at the time little Leftie's hat reminded me of a bee hive. So here they are again, this time dressed as little bee keepers (minus all the safety gear). By adding a few lines with a fine micron pen, I turned the berries into bees.
As usual the image is printed onto copy paper, coloured with Prismacolour pencils, Zest it pencil blend and highlighted with a Copic. Before fussy cutting, I gently wiped a walnut stain distress ink foam blending tool over the girls (and yes it's true I do shut my eyes).
No surprises that the background was done with Distress Inks and the Smack & Squirt blending technique (smack distress ink pad onto al foil, squirt on water and using a foam blending tool, scrub the inky water onto the cardstock, add a bit more colour without adding water where needed).
I always start at the bottom and create the grass area first, then move up the card. I also start with a slightly bigger piece of cardstock, so I can either trim a bit off the sky or grass. Same applies to the sides, with this method you don't have to worry about seeing where the blending starts - you just lop it off.
I'm not sure why I thought a silvery moon was a good idea, it is near impossible to stamp over, perhaps we could call it fog. MISTI was used to stamp on all the foliage. I also stamped on 2 bees, they are rather large....oh I know, they are giant killer bees that only come out on when there is a silvery moon. Job done! I love it when a plan comes together hehehe.
I hope you get a chance to join in Miss Boo's fun Tickle a TEApotter teaparty. Thank you so much for looking.

Another fabulous creation, so neat to read how you come about doing everything, I think I would have to hold my breath too if putting distress ink over my image but then I would probably pass out, LOL!
Great details!

They are so cute as bee-girls....oops, I mean bee keepers!! I go with the fog idea........that should protect the girls from bee stings, since they have forgotten their protective gear. A darling card, as usual, from you, Susie dear!

Amazing as Always!!! I love reading about your process and agree with others that you should create a video featuring you making these beautiful cards! You are at the top of my bucket list: going to Australia and creating cards with you! It would be a dream come true!
I love those "Baldy" girls! You really know how to bring them to life! I'm going to have to try that "smack & squirt" technique! I love that silvery moon too! I really should quit gushing over this or you may worry that I'm a stalker! LOL

Yes, I remember these girls from the berry challenge. You are too clever to turn them into beekeepers! (Seriously, it takes a special eye to be able to make connections like that.) Love the colors, too.

I thought I had seen the awesome girls before! They are so beautiful and your coloring of them is outstanding, Susie! Your are so talented and did an awesome job of creating bees out of berries on Leftie's hat! The background, including the moon and bees is beautiful. This is another outstanding card, Susie!

Talk about beehive hairstyle. Susie, as always this is just ace, and your write-ups are always a treat to read with all the fun and information too. Love all the rich honey colours they are wearing, and that you turned the basket of berries into bees. But oh my, look at that those big fierce bees. Those were the sort we had in our garden for a few years - some native Irish species. The honey was good, but we had to be careful around the hive, and one year my mother didn't smoke them enough and they attacked her and then the house. So I prefer the cute ones in the basket .
