Well, I should be working on a commissioned set of cards, but since the little birdhouse dies were setting within arms-reach just waiting to use, I couldn't resist finding time to play along in Stacy's IC challenge today, and what a wonderful selection of birdhouses there were on offer. I just loved the ones from Little Lodgings (one of Stacy's thumbs is the Phoenix Lodge) but these two miniature birdhouses were my inspiration.
I cut the houses from watercolour card and coloured them with DOX reinkers, distress for the birds. The embossed base has been kicking round the desk for a while so I decided to add them to that, and instead of doing a background in the polaroid frame, I just swiped the embossing outside it and left it clean white inside.

What a sweet card (and very CAS for you)...I like how you translated those tiny birdhouses with a rustic look to these two houses framed against a woodsy bg. Cute and whimsical! Good luck with your other projects...

Love the sweet little birdhouses in their framing and the swiped bg is perfect! I am loving the Grandma role and get to watch my granddaughter once a week.

Your sweet birdhouse scene brought a smile to my face - they are a happy sign of spring to come! And I am loving the look you achieved on the woodplank embossing by swiping it with ink...I see in your description that you used pumice stone Distress Oxide - yeah, I think I have that!
Thanks for sharing this fun card and how you achieved that weathered wood look.
