I'm this week's Ways To Use It hostess and I'm celebrating Beautiful Music by using musical notes and instruments on my card. I followed the marvelous SCS Guitar Card variation tutorial. I made a couple of changes, instead of brads, I cut and scored the saddle, poked holes in the bridge and tied the thread under the saddle, added a toothpick to make it look more authentic. I stamped an ornate circle for the rosette, cut out the sound hole and layered it over sponged kraft paper. Scored the neck, used a silver gel pen to mimic the frets. The body is cut from slightly textured light brown cs and sponged to create a grain. I embossed black CS and brayered with gold ink for the bg. Stamped the sentiment, die cut and sponged the panel. Assembled the layers over a cream card base. The hardest part of the card was getting the silver thread to stick to the tape! TFL.
Hope you'll come play along

Just a beautiful card, Carla. I love that guitar; thanks for including the link to the tutorial and explaining how you made yours. I'm adding this to my faves. My nephew is in a rock band and is a guitar teacher. Every year I try to send him a music themed birthday card; something like this would be perfect!

WOW Carla this is outstanding! You've got such amazing detail on the guitar. I need to go back and look some more. And I love the stamped bg. Great design!
I'm jealous that you got to go to a stamp getaway (did you mention that you went with Carlene?)...sounds like so much fun!

Wow, Carla! What an awesome guitar you created, and thanks for identifying all the parts. The guitar looks so realistic and you did an outstanding job creating it. The embossed music and sentiment are gorgeous! Great piece of artwork, my friend!!!

Carla, you're certainly a much better paper luthier than I was, this is very well done indeed. Right down to the beautiful scrolling for the rosette, and the realistic grain look in the paper.
DH's first guitar came to him at least third-hand, my brother got it from a friend of his who was into pyrography and had blithely taken his pyrography kit to it to add a dragon. I must take a photo tomorrow and share it on the challenge thread. Luckily it didn't affect the sound!! It's a 12-string, and has a lovely tone.

This is a BEAUTIFUL work of art, and so much fun to watch you create it at the Stamping Girls' Getaway! The details and love you put into this right from the start in choosing the perfectly grained paper for your guitar to an authentic look for your strings is just phenomenal! A MUST for my FAVs!

Carla this guitar card is terrific! I have not tried this technique yet but totally could find a use for it when I do try it. Great challenge and super card you created.
