Hello, sweet friends! "All by myself" is what I think this flower is thinking (and now you may well have that song in your head for a while, right?). This is a single flower from the newest Power Poppy release, but the main image is a "whopper" and absolutely gorgeous! I wasn't up to coloring it and decided to color this lovely "single" hellebore and found some beautiful inspiration photos. While I didn't capture the warmth of my flower in this photo (and wish I had used only pencils for the entire image to give it the detail and warmth it deserved), I enjoyed coloring it. I tend to get stuck trying to make it as realistic as my inspiration photos and forget to allow myself some artistic freedom. (Coloring has been a lifesaver for me to rest and relax.) I tried all sorts of ideas on how to finish the card and was inspired to use a stencil. But nothing I tried worked (mixed media still eludes me). I even tried some pointillism again, but I couldn't find the right color(s). So, I just added some shading in areas for depth, matted it, and used a scallop/stitched base. One of the fun things about this one (giving away my tricks here now...) is being able to make a photocopy of it and then enhance the areas that didn't copy well with markers and/or pencils to look as good if not (and hopefully) better than the original. So, I'll definitely be making more of this card....and I am definitely going to try to be more daring with those! As many know, Marcella Hawley always inspires us by sharing what each element is. And just wait till you see what she has done with it! Wow!
Thanks so much for taking a closer look at my card! I am always so touched my your comments.
While we've had absolutely beautiful weather here, my heart is aching for South Florida after the horrific shooting not too far south and west from where we live. Keeping everyone involved in our prayers. Definitely needed for so many as our hearts break. I do know that God is my strength and comfort and know that many will help all those who are dealing with the aftermath of this devastating event. Tender hugs, all!

Yes - I now have that song stuck in my head too. I am so inspired by your delicate colouring of flowers - and this one is beyond gorgeous. I just love the scalloped and stitched frame. Now going to have a look at Power Poppy now - after being inspired.

Marcelle must be thrilled out of her socks every time she sees one of your cards posted, Cheyrl. The coloring is gorgeous and the way you captured the ribbed quality of the petals is so beautifully done. You are AMAZING!!!

You always do a splendid job Cheryl, and I'm glad it's something that allows you the rest and relaxation you need. That's how I feel when I watercolor. I give myself freedom to just experiment and have fun! If we get a happy accident all the better - right?! (she smiles).

Super beautiful, Cheryl, I think your well-thought out coloring method works perfectly. It is a really pretty flower and you made it look fabulous. I would have just sponged on some color and went with it which is why I seldom do flowers. Really great card. Hugz
