I need a birthday card for a friend for a surprise birthday party coming up. So this cake was perfect inspiration, and I've wanted to color up this sweet cake with the yummy strawberries (I doubt I could ever not get enough strawberries...hehe!). And look at that chocolate icing...yum! This card also works for this month's Power & Spark Challenge, which is to CASE one of the Bloomies at Power Poppy. So I found this card by Cindy Lawrence and made a few changes--besides coloring the cake stand a different color, I used different DP, didn't cut off the circle, matted the circle, used a different border, and I didn't add any pearls. Now you know it's really hard to CASE one of your stamping "idols," but it was fun!
I always enjoy coloring, and then I decided to carefully glue the mat to the circle...I use the Tombow glue for that because it will slide a wee bit if necessary. Then I added the borders to the DP and tied some jute thread along with a button. After deciding where everything would go, I used my Mini MISTI to add the sentiment (don't know what I did without my MISTI tools). I adhered the DP with embellishments with red tape and even some Tombow glue. Then I adhered the cake...and it was done! Love the feeling of a finished card!
I've been trying very hard this week to finish nearly a dozen cards to mail out. I finished off a lot of card insides to make them look nicer and make them sturdier so stand (especially when I need to use a lighter-weight card base).
So once again, thanks so much for taking a close-up look at my card. Hope you have a beautiful weekend! Hugs!
P. S. I nearly forgot that there is a sale on digital images at Power Poppy this week - save 20%. You know how much I love digis!

So yummy, Cheryl - and I love that you used a kraft base! Great coloring on the cake of course and love all the little details. Faved! (Haven't had time to experiment with digis yet and we go out of town next week, so it may be a while, but it WILL happen!)
