Audrie's Inspiration! Board on Pinterest is the subject of this week's Inspiration Challenge, and it breathed new life into me. Thanks so much, Audrie, for the inspiration!
I loved the idea of a black glass butterfly in front of colorful backdrop, and figured it would be pretty easy to duplicate with a transparency. I wouldn't really call this card easy, though!
I stamped the butterfly on a piece of transparency, then cut a frame from white card stock using a craft knife and quilting ruler. With light pencil marks in the corners of the framed space as a guide, I stamped the floral stem on the card base after inking it with markers and huffing on it.
To attach the frame, I first used Scor-Tape to secure the transparency to the frame, and then cut strips of craft foam to fit around the frame, glued the strips to the frame, and then glued everything to the card base. The result raises the butterfly above the flower, adding some interesting dimension inspired by the original photo of the glass butterfly.
This took a lot longer to make than my usual cards, but it was worth it!
Thanks, Audrie, for the inspiration!

OMG.....I read your description a couple of times and couldn't figure out what your meant.....I thought your butterfly WAS cut out!! Now that I look closer I see what you mean.....that explains why your butterfly is SO sharp. Now I have to try it the way you did it.....haha!!

...sure its got a catchy beat, but can you stamp to it?
life is something that happens only when you run out of cardstock
