What fun I had with this one. I started by using various stencils and randomly applying small patches of modeling paste over half of a sheet of mixed media paper. Next was the fun part. I sponged, used watercolors, used home made sprays made with reinkers and continued to apply color and fix up the ugly spots with anything I had that would put down color. When that dried, I used Stamplorations mixed media stamps to stamp the spaces in between the paste. Most of it on this was obliterated by the tree but there is a part of a stamp at the lower left of the tree still showing. Out came a variety of stencils again. This time I used an embossing dauber. I used a small part of the many different stencils squeezing the dauber through the stencil then embossed with all kinds of colors of Lindy Stamp Gang embossing powder. This left a pretty patina on the tag. I also rubbed on Inka gold in a few spots.
I followed Catherine Pooler's idea of doing a floating inlaid die cut. You can see it here. This is where senior moments happen. No wafer thin die will cut anything deeper than the blade and this definitely was pretty thick with paste. Even my custom made (designed by me) base plate was having trouble and it has cut my most difficult dies. It took several passes but finally got it cut. I cut out the tree using Shimmer Sheetz and used acetate behind it. Since I cut the tree off the edge of the tag, what fun I had finding those tiny pieces that I had forgotten would fall out! Finished off with a few stitches and added my favorite die cut star. Added the gold SU cord, a retired product. Thanks for stopping by.

Drop dead GORGEOUS!! I can't even follow your description to determine how you came up with this. You've done some awesome things in the past, but this may be the absolute best. EVER!

Oh my, this is just awesome. Love that wonderful patina on the fab background, and what a glorious golden tree. Yay for that plate to cut the shimmer sheetz, as it is truly magnificent on this super colored & textured background. You've really got the Mixed Media technique perfectly. TFS the technique video, ditto for the marvelous tag. Hugs, Mary
