Peggy is our hostess this week and she has chosen: tangelo twist, tempting turquoise whisper white and the desert is a touch of metallic. I knew I needed to use distress inks for my technique so I had to sub the closest distress colors: peacock feathers and spiced marmalade. No dessert for me today.
My second card for this challenge, but very different in style from the first! First I created a bg: I used the faux mother of pearl technique. Loll Thompson has a great video tutorial here (thanks, Loll!):
However, as I was starting the project I realized that I didn’t have the frost acrylic paint that Loll had used - so I had to improvise. I just used white acrylic paint and when I sponged over it, it didn’t show that much and I thought okay, this technique failed. But when I was done sponging, I sprayed with Perfect Pearls pearl spray and voila – the texture showed up beautifully – yea!
Then I used my new Elsa butterfly branch die and when I popped it out, I thought, “Wow”!! Loved how it looked! In the photo it looks a bit fuzzy, but that is the sparkle reflecting the light, I believe. It’s just gorgeous IRL. Kept the rest of the card simple – a few score lines, some sequins and mounted the main panel to my card front. Will definitely be doing this again!
Come and join in the challenge – you may be our next favorite!!
