This is for Cathy's fun WT challenge ~ WT527 Watercolour Backgrounds.
It was great to combine with Frances' challenge to the CCEE Stampers, to mark National Librarians Day by using a book as our inspiration. We belonged to two libraries when I was a child, and I still go to our local one at least every other week. Here I was inspired by the Pierre Probst Caroline books (sadly, in English they are now out of print and cost a small fortune, but they're still available in French). This, obviously, is Caroline At the North Pole. It does also remind me of a chapter in one of the Mary Poppins books; Mary has a compass, and with her the children visit each of the different compass points. Michael, on his own, tries to repeat it, and of course ends up in trouble, rescued by Mary Poppins.
Stamped my images with masking, coloured with Polychromos pencils just to be sure they didn't bleed when I waterercoloured the background. I used Twinkling H2Os for the foreground and Winsor & Newton pan colours for the background (with a few spots of masking fluid for resist). Edged it with white acrcylic, and when that was dry I added some Stickles for a frosty look.

Oh, Sabrina, what a great background for the sky - reminds me what arctic skies would look like. And what a sweet image so beautifully colored!! I'm with you about books! Love them! Hugs!

How cute & fun, Sabrina! I love to read! I read everything I can get my hands (or on my iPad, now) on .EXCEPT for instruction manuals, blech! I leave those for DH, that's about all he reads other than technical books. We have a big running joke..when I ask him how something works, he says "did you read the manual?" I say well, if you read it, why do I have to? Just tell me what I need to know, lol. They put me to sleep!

what a fun scene......and so perfectly inspired by your books.....I personally believe in the sentiment......I have traveled a bit of the world in real life, but through books I have traveled so much more and to such exotic places and adventures AND even traveled through time......a book (now my Kindle) is my best friend always since childhood
