I haven't had much success with Bisters until I purchased some clay paper by WorldWin. They just floated on the surface and eventually created this mottled background. I accidently dropped the piece on a paper towel while still wet and it created some texture. Stamped the crazy bird on white paper, colored and cut him out. Fashioned a sign from wood and used SU Cheerful Critters to stamp the sentiment. I slit his wing after fussy cutting to slip the sign in. The clay paper did not stamp very well with distress inks so the branches are a bit blurry. The idea for this card was inspired by Susie Australia's card "Oh Hoot" which you can see here. This set by Tim Holtz is so fun to work with.
Thanks for stopping by.

Whenever I read your write ups I discover new things - bisters and clay paper...I will have to go look those things up. Your bkg is awesome. It has such a misty, foggy evening feel. Coincidentally, the last few mornings have looked just like that here. This bird image is ifabulous. I love anything with whimsical birds. Your coloring and fussy cutting is perfection. Already pinned for next week.

Nancy, as I have said at least 200 times before....I simply drool over your signature color palette....in all its glory here. Beautiful and darling card(all at the same time). Love the bg and your bird is FABULOUS in his unique way(two different sized eyeballs). I am unfamiliar with "blisters", but plan on researching the subject. Learning is always a bonus here on SCS. FAB card!!!

OK, this is the second time today I have come across 'Bister'. I definitely have to check what the heck that stuff is because I really like the look of what people are doing with it. Your wonky eyed bird is the cat's meow! Love him to pieces! Wonderful background; love the story behind it. I do have some coated paper so I really have to track down that magic stuff you used on it. :-)

This background is awesome! And what a cute idea to create the sign and then tuck it under his wing! And I like the branches blurry, it adds to the "mood" of the card.

Watch it, Girl. You are copying my craziness. Dropping something accidentally which changes the artwork IS my style. (But it can't be helped) and sometimes - as in your case here, it sure helps, hey. I love your little Hoot and especially the sentiment.
