This week we are celebrating the 500th Color Challenge, and we are excited to share the party with you! Becky came up with the idea of offering your choice of seasons to celebrate, and she created a different four-color combo for each. And I must say, each one is prettier than the last. It was very hard to choose.
But I had this adorable digi from Mo Manning, called Tolo, and I really wanted to put her on a card. Plus, what goes with Springtime in Seattle better than a little rain and a few mushrooms?!?!
I used the tutorial from last Wednesday (Thank you Jennifer McGuire!), and after I colored Tolo I covered her with masking fluid, and then airbrushed the background with my Copic air compressor. This technique was especially handy for this image because it would be next to impossible to mask off those tiny raindrops with a paper mask, but it was easy to just paint on the fluid. After the background was done, I removed the dry masking fluid and then applied a tiny bit of Crystal Effects to the raindrops with a toothpick to make them shine. And I scribbled a Spica clear pen on her wings to make them glitter (which you can't see in the photo).
Thanks for looking, and please play along with us this week!

Oh, Barbara, this is absolutely adorable!! Yes, I love your coloring - it's stunning! And I love that you've used the little girl under the mushroom - haha!! Yes, rainy Seattle in the spring! I just love the papers for the soft image! I have to check out the liquid masking technique. . . that really sounds fabulous and worked so well! Hugs!
