This is for Linda's great WT476 challenge to create a card with a tree on it to celebrate Arbor Day and for the last of Kathy's April challenges to the CCEE Stampers for April, which was to say what April showers mean to us.
Rather than a more generic "April showers bring May flowers" type theme, I went for a particularly memorable April shower! So memorable that I, who don't particularly have a good visual memory, can picture exactly what I was wearing that day thirty years ago (a blue pinafore dress in a checked wool, and a handknit Aran sweater ;-)- and the suede boots that were left in the car.
Picture a lovely warm sunny day in late April. So warm that when I'd parked the car up in the forest car park, I left my boots and tights in the car even before I started my walk. It was a lovely day - spring in the air, and I saw deer, rabbits, squirrels, plenty of birds, and after about an hour's walk I was sitting in a clearing watching a fox when suddenly the sky grew dark and there was a sudden hail shower. And it stayed cold - so that I had to run back to the car, and for the only time ever in all my days of running and walking barefoot in the woods and mountains, I bruised my feet because they were too cold to feel the ground.
So this card, which was created with a lot of masking, represents that April afternoon so long ago, and an unexpected hail shower. Images are coloured with Polychromos pencils, and I sponged in the sky. Spring foliage stamped on the trees with Peeled Paint, and I used some chunky white EP to represent the hail. It's edged with a black marker, and I added a sentiment stamped on vellum.

Sabrina, your card is gorgeous...like an illustrations from a beautiful child's book. But, I enjoyed your story even more. You are talented in more than one art.

Ouch Sabrina! But WOW on the card! Love those birch trees and little critters. The snow/hail falling is the perfect touch. Love how you did the sentiment. This card is wonderful. TFS :0)

I love your little scene and what a memory to go with it. I feel your pain having chased my sister down a pebble covered sidewalk because I was so mad at her when we were teens. Oh, the bruises! Glad that you remembered the sweet little good parts. They're so cute.

What a great story...I can almost feel the bruised feet. Your card is fantastic. First, you did such a great job coloring the trees and the leaves. The hail is so creative and the little animals are adorable. I had so much fun looking at all the details.

Sabrina, cards are all the more special when a memory makes them happen. You walk barefoot in the woods???? I just can't go barefoot, my feet aren't tough enough, even in the house. Your card just glistens with color, life, awesomeness. Love it!
