This was a really cool challenge. I used proper Encaustic card for mine, (Have had the card and an iron for ages, but theyve never been out to play) and started by stamping trees in Blck Staz-on. I then used blue and white for the sky, and green tinged with brown for the hills and foiliage. I also used my heat gun on the sky which made the wax more cloud shaped. I was pretty impressed for my first try at this. maybe the iron won't be sat gathering dust any more.
MORE INFO FOR ALL WHO ASKED:Hi, thanks for the comments on my wax card. It is actually really easy to make. I used special Encaustic card, (like a gloss card) though I think you can use any card - will have to try. Encaustic card is especially made for using with wax and an iron - Not sure if this is a UK product only though.
First I stamped the trees in black Staz-on. Next I melted white wax crayon onto my craft iron (better than regular iron as no steam holes, and so no messing about having to cover iron with foil first). I added a little blue, then gently swiped across the top of the card for sky. You can alter it as much as you want, if you are not happy, just put the iron back on to remelt and move the wax about. Next I used my heat gun to blow the wax about abit and make it look more like clouds.
For the hills, I used a bit of brown crayon on the tip of the iron, and filled the rest of the surface with green. I swiped it across gently to form the hills. You need to reload with wax each time you swipe.
The foreground used just green, and you pick the card up, and dab the iron up and down. The suction marks look like foliage. To finish, use the tip of the iron (clean) to scratch away some grasses.
Thats it - done (in about 10 minutes)
I'm fairly new to posting on SCS, mostly becuase I'm in the UK and we don't have Stampin-Up here. I'm absolutely addicted however, and slowly started to import stamp sets so I can take a more active part. If you know of anywhere on this forum where these instructions would be appreciated, please feel free to copy and paste them there.
Have a good day,
Rachel
