I was a little giddy when I received a PM from Lydia about Visual Stamp Night. Being asked by the head honcho to help out with anything is an honor. I asked her lots of questions about VSN and the conversation turned when Lydia asked me to join the Dirty Dozen. All of a sudden Chatty Kathy (me) turned into a mime and could not form a sentence. She said that there are aspects to be kept secret until the reveal, and so I did manage to say, "no problem, can't speak or use my fingers anyway".
I've made many computer generated invitations for my daughter's birthdays but my stamping began fairly recently. I started collecting stamps on a trip to an art supply store in Traverse City, Michigan 1996. I went in for some stationery and departed with more than a few rubber stamps. No inkpads or paper just stamps. In 1997 I attended a Stampin' Up demonstration and purchased more stamps. No ink or paper. All my stamps look really pretty in an antique spool cabinet I purchased at the Fair Grounds in CT.
In 1999 I attended a craft show at the expo center in Hartford, CT and purchased four inkpads, and in 2000 I made my first stamped Christmas card. From that point I've only made a few very special cards for friends and family.
While visiting my favorite stamping store in New Hampshire in 2010 a very nice customer told me about Splitcoaststampers. I was instantly addicted and became a Fan Club Member in Jan 2011. It was very intimidating and intriguing and I wanted play along. I have learned so much about stamping/card making from artists in the SCS community.
My name is Angela Maine aka (Arizona Maine) and I live in Connecticut with my husband, who is very supportive for all of my endeavors. I've worked as an Air Traffic Controller in South Carolina where I was born and raised, and a Conference Planner in Washington, DC where I met my husband. I retired when we were married in 1989, moved to CT and devoted time to my husband and our baby girl. Now that she's in college and no more soccer, basketball and lacrosse mom, I absolutely love my time to do activities for church, Easter Seals fund raisers, a little yoga and some tennis. But I've added much more time for paper crafting. I also have two adult stepdaughters and three grandsons. The grandsons look forward to their birthday cards and that warms my heart.
I don't have a specific style of card making. Like the two floppy disc system of old, I rely heavily on the SCS community to boot my creative juices, and I love you all for that. I can't adequately articulate how happy and proud I am of being asked to climb on the "Dirt Pile".
