Hello! This card fits today's Sketch Challenge! I used a circle instead of the one panel, but I think it makes my image look better....
We've still been a very stressed household...the Science Fair itself was supposed to be yesterday. However, since 99% of the students' boards were sent home, the Science Fair date was changed to Friday. Now, let me explain the issues.... Markie attends a GIFTED and Talented School. (Only Advanced Students attend, and by lottery. He got one of only 3 spots that were available.) So, he is competing with some VERY smart children for everything. And, he's a YEAR YOUNGER than ANYONE in his school. And, it's the only public school in our county that is a Jr/Sr high! Talk about pressure. They take Science Fairs VERY seriously. There is a 100 page handbook that explains how to write the research paper, put together the experiment, document results, etc. There is only 1 page, and it's a 3/4page at that, that is dedicated to the Science Fair Project board! That's it! So, it's very difficult for children and THEIR PARENTS to put a project board together with no guideance. Heck, they told us what font, type size, margin size and PAPER type to use for the research paper, but didn't have ANYTHING for us as guidelines for the project board. No wonder, everyone, EXCEPT a teacher's child, moped out of school with their science projects in tow yesterday. Markie was FURIOUS! His teacher told him he couldn't have his title be a question. Now, let me tell you something...SHE FORCED him to title his paper, project board and abstract as a question. However, the HANDBOOK stated that it could NOT be a question. Why give us a handbook??? LOL So, I was on the phone to the assistant principal yesterday. I was losing it. I finally said, "Excuse me, I went to the meetings. I attended the workshops. I took over 100 hours of my life, rented a scientific scale, preformed experiments, over and over, and over. Now, I get a project board, a child in tears, and an ULCER over a Science Fair board title??? And, the teacher told him he had to preform the experimental trials again because he didn't include the results? Can't she read??? The board had all that BORING info. I guess she just skipped right over it. It was just about the ONLY thing the HANDBOOK said HAD to be on the board, so do you think my son decided to LEAVE IT OFF for kicks?
Wow....he LAUGHED! He said, "Have your son meet me at my office in the morning, and we'll go speak to his teacher. Bring it all back. I know you have been trying to contact her, as you emailed ME by accident, and I've been forwarding your emails, all 27 of them, since this fair began. I guess she didn't ever contact you, did she?" No. She did not. And, now Mark is at the school, trying to straighten all this out. Hopefully, this will all be over this week...
I love owls....And, I love making graduation cards. I always have. You KNOW the recipients keep them, for at least a few weeks. Why? because they have to remember who gave them MONEY for graduation so they can write the Thank You notes! LOL
Think I'm kidding? I swear, you can walk into several of my friends' homes, with graduating children, and you will see the PILES of cards they have received! And, since I give MONEY, my cards are usually on the TOP! LOL
I wanted to color this owl, but was having a difficult time deciding how. So, I stamped Adirondack's Espresso and colored him with Copics. Talk about EASY! I went a bit overboard and colored him really DARK, so I got out my Inkssentials Pen and added white dots all over! It really lightened him up, and I didn't have to start over. (Love when I can FIX a booboo!)
Finished card size: 6" x 4 3/4" (Yes, it's a 1/2" bigger both ways. You can see the base was a 12" x 12" piece of designer paper.)
Time to complete: 35 minutes.
