Hello! This card was made for the Ways To Use It Challenge: Sweet Treats, and for this week's Stampin' B's Challenge to use Flower Soft, Liquid Applique or Glitter.
I'm sure only a few people missed me this week. And, if you did, then you may not have known about our new place to go....LOL
And, well, Markie has had some severe blows when it comes to his school work. The child had his ENTIRE Science Fair project on his computer. OMGosh...it CRASHED! So, after over $400 at the local computer chain, we were able to get his files onto his FATHER's lap top. All was PERFECT. Well, so we thought. Mark got a call and was sent out of the country to "work." Well, he took his lap top with him. He had just a few hours to get packed and it NEVER occured to me to ask about the project, as I thought he had transferred everything to Markie's NEW computer...NO, he did not! So, after a very heated 2 minute call, I found out that Mark could not email, fax, etc, anything to us from where HE was. Now, I have to admit this...I wished I could run away from home. Normally, in this situation, I'd call my mother and scream and rant about how much a selfish, immature, self serving, ADD person my husband REALLY is....And, of course, she would have told me, "Grow up and put your VERY BIG girl panties on and get the job done." Of course, I can't call her anymore. I almost lost it, right in front of my son. Instead, I looked at him and said, "Let's do a Science Fair project!" He looked at me and broke down in tears just like I wanted to shed. Poor child.
So, from Friday at 5:02PM until Wednesday morning at 8:15AM, we were Science Fair nuts. We set up 5 trials, made so many notes that his fingers got blisters, and I helped him put together a term paper, from the note cards to the completed paper. I'm talking DAYS of work, work that the child had already done! (I didn't DO the work, I just TYPED it. And, I didn't spell or grammer check. He had to!) Oh, and we had to purchase books via the Nook, so that he had the references! He had already turned in all the books to the library! And, the teacher had the notecards and the rough draft so he didn't have access to them!
Wednesday morning the teacher was very pleased, as this project is his ENTIRE Science grade, and 1/2 of his English grade. She let me know that he was supposed to turn some of the work on Friday morning, but since we didn't have access to the work, she gave him an extension, as long as he started from the BEGINNING!!!! Oh, what fun...it is to have a gifted child....LOL
I used the Tacky Glitter Background technique on this card. To make the background, I used 1/4" and 1/2" Tacky Tape. I adhered the lines of Tacky Tape on a piece of 120lb White Storm card stock. Then, I peeled away the liners for the 1/4" and poured Speedy the Cat Red Glitter, and pressed it into the tape. I had to use a brush, then a Swiffer Cloth, then the brush again to get the "clinging" glitter off the paper. I repeated the process with the pink.
I colored in the cupcake with Copics. The sentiment was stamped in VersaMark and embossed in White. I added in the hat pins and this fits Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge to use a hat pin.
Finished card size: 5 1/2" square
Totatl time to complete: over an hour...I'm out of practice... LOL

...And, you still got a card done? That was a science project in and of itself Faith. What a story. And, I'm constantly telling myself as I've heard - It's time to pick up my big girl pants and move on. I give myself 3 days to mope, then I say that to myself. It usually works depending on how many comments I have to make - LOL! As always Faith, your cards is beautifully colored, bright and cheery. Your use of the tape lines to glitter was genious unlike my flower soft overload. Great job!!
