Well, today calls for a Mothermark story. Shirley (wannabecre8tive) and I hatched a plan to acquire the Wild Wild West Set for Cindy via EBay over a year ago. I was so close, so many times, but always lost. And I am glad I did! Because this last August, I did win a set, and it was brand spankin' new!
If you are not aware of Mothermarks' quest for this set, please take a peek here:
There were 38 people who shared the joy of our acquisition, and they were all very good for keeping such a huge secret for so long! Many, heartfelt thanks for all of you that jumped on this crazy plan with Shirley and I. It has been so much fun! I have been 'taunting' da Mudder ever since, by making cards with this set. And her usual comment is 'Gimme that set!' Lol. Oh- I can't tell you the joy that gave to me!
Cindy just called me from the restaurant where she is celebrating her birthday with TraciM! She was laughing between tears, and so excited she could hardly stand it! She was crying just at all the cards packed into this box, and did not even know the set was at the bottom- Traci had to show her! Is that great, or what!
Here is a list of the generous stampers that helped make this happen: ardodd, artystamper, beestamper, Brat Cards, card crazy, cmsuto, coffeestamper, Connie Jo9, ctorina, diane617, jaydekay, jdmommy, joan ervin, jojot, kokirose, LilLuvsStampin, marilynprestonn, Marleygo, Maureen Vollaro, merniebug, MrsBoz, mspfd, nwilliams6, One4Joy, peggysue, pidgesmom, Redbugdriver, resqbarbie, schirmcat, StampingQueenJAR, Stamp Muse, stamps4funinCA, Toy, Vicky Gould, 4815162342, wannabcre8tive, Crazykim, Cook22, TraciM, Flowergal36
Box Deets:This is a storage box, covered with a distressed grocery sack. After cutting the bag open to make it flat, I put enough water to make the paper very pliable and wrinkled it up. I laid it flat to dry and crinkled it again. Once it dried the second time, I ran an SU Creamy Caramel ink pad over the entire surface, and wrinkled it once more- with the ink on the inside. After drying for a day, I opened it once more and ironed it flat from the back side (no ink). After measuring the box, I cut the pieces to fit and used Super Tack (red) tape to adhere. I must note that the brass handles were a tough fit, but the Buckle Man used his trusty exacto knife and made it work! The inside is covered with dark brown faux velvet.
I used scraps cut from the covering top make the straps on top- stamping a belt from CTMH and stitching the edges. The 'buckle' is made with a Tim Holtz hardware frame. I stamped the WWW Man, watercolored him and glued the images to the inside edges. Using doubled pop dots to keep the image in place, I added a thick coat of Crystal Effects.

You told me you were making a box for the cards and the set. I had no idea that it was as fabulous as this. You are so talented. That really looks like leather. *** mental note...store this away for future reference*** The buckle is awesome.
You and Shirley planning this whole thing is so touching. You both are amazing ladies. Thanks for letting me be a part. I can only imagine how hard it has been for you to keep the secret. It was really hard for me.
I heard the scream all the way here in Iowa. Like everyone else, I wish I could have been a fly on the wall to see it all.
You ladies are the bestest!!!!

OMGosh, Pat, you totally outdid yourself on this outstanding creation to hold the MM's presie and cards. WOWSA!!!! Your details are incredible and, although it's easy for me to say, well worth all the waiting for drying time in between! GORGEOUS!
Thanks to you and Shirley from the bottom of my heart for including me in this auspicious occasion and the fabulous gift for Cindy!
Happy Birthday, Cindy!

Pat, as everyone else has said, this box is AMAZING! It definitely shows every bit of the love and caring that you and Buckleman put into it. I so wish I could have seen it in person. And, I really wish I could have seen Cindy's face when she dug to the bottom and saw that stamp set! Huge thanks to you and Shirley for including all of us in this super fun venture! Huge hugs to you!

This is my comment!
This box is honestly the most incredible thing I have seen! I cannot tell you how wonderful it is in real life! The amount of brads alone is astonishing (I like that, giggle!) and the amazing hardware, the quality in which is was made, and the inside is sheer perfection. Not to mention the image, tee hee! I honestly was so touched by the box in itself, then the stacks of cards and then the.....well you know what came after that!
Pat, you blow me away.
Shirley, some may call you a stinker (like me) but you are the sweetest, kindest person on the face of the earth.
And everyone listed in Pat's commentary.....and any that may have been accidently missed......I love you all!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
PS...you can bet I will be comparing the names on my cards to the names Pat listed.....just to make sure. I plan on posting it on my blog soon.....just as soon as we can get pictures taken.....
and Bubba......Mother-ancient-snot-dot???
(You're on buddy!) Snort! Thank you too for you part in making me one happy camper (or should I say, stamper) on my birthday.
Whew! I got my comment out! Thanks for waiting, it still very emotional for me!

You guys must have big time pull with the post office! How did you get your mugs on a stamp? Whoa! Is that a fake stamp? A hoax? Living in Colorado, I am very skeptical these days! Snort!

I FINALLY GOT TO SEE THE MOST AWESOME BIRTHDAY SURPRISE EVER THAT WAS PRESENTED TO MOTHERMARK - JUST 1 YEAR too LATE!!
I have heard the stories, and the tall tales spun, heard about the secrets that were kept by over FORTY WOMEN - a feat in itself, and heard about the explosion of joy when Mothermark opened this generous and selfless gift from all of you, but NOTHING could have prepared me for what I just saw in these pictures.
Ladies of the Teapot Round Table, NO ONE is more generous with their time and talents as you all have been in joining together to show such LOVE and THOUGHTFULNESS to Da Muddermark, Cindy!! There is truly no better band of Sisters in the world than those found right here on SCS !!!
Pat and Shirt, the planning and wheelin' and dealin' to get that coveted WWW set for Mothermark was an off the charts BRILLIANT IDEA you hatched. But to let everybody get in on the surprise- THAT was the most selfless act of sharing ever.
Buckleman and Pat - great collaboration on this authentic "stage coach box"- I read the description of how you made it look like this and was picking my jaw up off the ground!! Such loving attention to every detail - the brads, the leather straps, the multiple techniques to make it look SO AUTHENTIC, the ingenious use of the hardware - this is a piece of master craftsmanship!!
I only wish I had been a part of this marvelous, generous and loving group's surprise for Cindy's Birthday last year!! She is the most selfless, loving and caring person, who is always thinking of how to help someone else - no one is more deserving of such loving intervention from all of you. My HAT is OFF to YOU!!! HUGE HUGS TO YOU ALL!!
Thanks Pat, for sharing this beautiful story with me - the late comer to the party! LYMI
