Fran had a lovely teapot with a bamboo design on it for the MMTPT Five Companions challenge this week - bonus points for an Asian feel.
If I'd had more time I'd have gone the paper-folding route, though I'm not sure if Korean paper-folding bears much resemblance to origami.
Short on time, though, and since this is going to a Christian Korean lady diagnosed with terminal cancer, I thought that I could multi-task and make a card for the current ODBD Anniversary challenge, to use metal or something sweet to help celebrate their 6th anniversary.
And of course I majored in green for Michelle's Go Green WTUI challenge today. Plus my bird is the "other" green - cut from an empty tube of tomato paste.
I made a wrinkle free distress background with forest moss, peeled paint and tea dye.
TCW bamboo stencil - misted with homemade mist over right side of card. It didn't come out as strongly as I wanted, so then I used the same stencil with modelling paste colored with acrylic paint and glitter sprinkled over while it was still wet.
Edged with gold border sticker, stamped the sentiment and finished it off with some Mizuhiki cord tied in a Carrick Bend.
Bird cut from aluminium, embossed and dabbed with alcohol ink, and popped up on foam.
