I need to make at least eight Valentines. I wanted to make my first with a vintage flair since I haven't used this style in a long time, and it is one of my favorites. I checked out the SCS challenges to see if a vintage Valentine would fit any of them and to get ideas for my card's layout and color scheme. I found seven to fit it into as follows:
#1 - Alphabet Challenge/ Round 8: DD8ABC22V...Letter V/ Double: E=exemplar...use decorative letter style. V=Vintage Valentines/ Double E for exemplar = decorative letter die-cut.
#2 - Inspiration Challenge: IC635 - 2/3/18...browse the online Theme Rooms filled with decorating ideas. My inspiration is from Romantic Bedroom Ideas...the very first picture of a lady in a softy feminine boudoir with lovely colors and feminine flowery walls, canopy, and bedding...the colors were perfect! See it here: http://themerooms.blogspot.com/searc...lentines%20Day.
#3 - Featured Stamper - FS574 - 2/4/18..."Ever Been to Walla Walla?" Featured stamper is Amy Marshal (Kalla Walla). I chose her "Card: Birthday Wishes - 7/2/13" for its layout, which I thought would work well: Birthday Wishes by Kalla Walla at Splitcoaststampers These are my changes:
* Theme change from birthday to Valentines
* I used a floral patterned paper for my background instead of an embossed floral.
* I added two die-cut hearts to the circular center area instead of the sentiment.
* I moved the three pearl buttons to top right corner instead of the bottom right to allow for a die-cut sentiment, and I added that sentiment.
* I used a torn edging on my panel beneath the circle focal point instead of a die-cut with decorative edge.
* I used a circular grapevine-style wreath for my circle instead of a scallop circle die.
#4 - Free for All Challenge - F4A414 - 1/26/18..."All the Love"...make a card for someone you love to show how they brighten your day. You can add hearts or incorporate the work "love" to make it even more "love"ly!
#5 - Ways to Use It Challenge - WT673 - 2/1/18 - Love is in the Air...create a card worthy of giving for Valentines...all about LOVE!
#6 -DIRTY DOZEN MONTHLY THEMES - September 2017 WORD Play - WORD0917 - 9/15/17...Time to have fun with spelling! Add things in your project that start with the letters of the word FOLD. F = Frayed edges; O = Organdy sheer ribbon; L - LOVE hearts; D = Distressed ink edges.
#7 - Use It Challenge - USEIT2018 - on-going annual challenge...use old or new unused materials and tools. I used: 1) an old patterned dsp have had in my paper stash for over three year; 2) die-cut hearts set that haven't been used for several years; 3) old ribbon from my stash...can't remember when I last used it!
#8 - Distressed Edge Technique - used edge of scissors to fray the edge of my vertical panel to add a more vintage look. Though this is in the Technique Tutorials, it is not in the Technique Spotlight sub-gallery.
Ingredients: Papers: Stampin' Up (SU) - Cardstock--Whisper White, Pool Party; Recollections--Soda Pop pack (mint green); DCWV--The Glitter Cardstock Stack (white); Pattern--Prima (stash).
