One man's weed is somebody else's wildflower. European goldfinches are meant to love thistle seeds, and indeed in the wild they do. I've seen whole fields of them in Greece, and small flocks of them here. But the only time I left a couple of thistles in the garden, they paid not the slightest attention and all I ended up with was a fine crop of thistles all over the following year. At least Sherry won't have that problem with these, and they have attracted a few pretty birds for her. You know what they say about a house with books - as far as I'm concerned you can say the same about a garden without birds!
A2 base, Memory Box.
IO image stamped on watercolour paper with Versafine Black and coloured with distress inks. I added a touch of Stickles to the birds' wings, the thistle flowers and a few leaves. It's layered onto green Bazzill and then I tied some organza ribbon round it.
