Hi! This card was made for today's Way to Use It Challenge: Butterfly Bliss AND for this week's Stampin' B's Challenge: use a die cut. AND it fits this week's Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge: embossing!
I LOVE butterflies, and I thought they would be a great addition to this JUST RELEASED stamp set: Sew What? I like to color the flowers on these scissors to mimic a set of my great grandmother's scissors that were painted!
I have to be perfectly honest with you...I have found an EASIER way to have an "out of the box" image that doesn't include fighting with a die and pulling all my hair out in frustration. (Believe me...this has happened MANY times! LOL)
First, I cut out the die. Next, I stamped the image in Adirondack Pitch Black onto the die. YES, some of the image, (I chose the POINTED end), hung off the edge. I chose that side because, frankly, it's EASIER to cut out! I colored in the image's flowers and stems. Next, I stamped the image's pointed end onto a scrap piece of Snow Storm Smooth and colored in JUST the little flower and the stem that is supposed to be the pivot point of the scissors. I cut out JUST that pointed end,(the blades), NOT the little stems of the scissors. This was a BREEZE! I used a HEATED UP glue dot to adhere the bladed to the existing, (and cut off!), portion of the blades on the circle. This took soooooooo much time off the cutting process!
Finished card size: 5" square
Total time to create: 28 minutes!
Ink: Palette Hybrid Ink: Toile Pink, Claret for sponging around the die cuts; Distress Ink-Crushed Olive to sponge around the butterflies; Adirondack's Pitch Black for the images.
Accessories: MFP: ribbon from Premium Paper Craft Pack, charm, cording TOOLS: embossing folder, Spellbinders, Inkssentials Pen, heat tool to heat up the hard glue dot!
LOve this card. I thank you for telling us how you did it, but still not sure how . I will have to try it. Love your die and image. Thank you for sharing your lovely creations with us!
